In 1959 Isla Vista School opened on El Colegio Road. Joseph Albon was named principal. The school was demolished in 1998 and a new school was built on the same site in 1999.

Isla Vista School is located approximately 10 miles from downtown Santa Barbara, just blocks from the Pacific Ocean and the University of California at Santa Barbara. The community of Isla Vista is about 95 miles north of Los Angeles.
